Marrakesh | The city of tradition and love

All year  around I was waiting for the summer to come so I could visit  Marrakesh….I booked my tickets to Marrakesh over the internet , it was very  cheap  and  health insurance was included…I have  a serious problem with airplanes, but  I didn’t let my fear of flying discourage me. My boyfriend  was  next to me and  made me  feel  comfortable . The flight was good and we arrived earlier than it   was programmed.

As soon as we arrived  at the airport of Marrakesh Menara we quickly hurried up, took our bags  and  went out in search of our driver .He was there waiting  for us , with a big friendly smile.. I was really happy because I wasn’t expecting for him to be in time, because we arrived at least 20 minutes earlier.

At the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were offered  many kinds of tea and  traditional sweets  it was a really pleasant moment  and  was exactly  what  I needed . My boyfriend and I went to the room to get a nap and relax…. We woke up early and started  the day with a great ,big breakfast  that  made our day.

The management sent an employee to welcome us and give us information about the city, its traditions, and give us tips about the center. It was early in the morning and it was so hot, I wasn’t used in such a warm temperature. They informed me that around noon we will touch the forty degrees, so  I went  to my room  to take  my sunglasses  and my hat  which  sadly  I  had forgotten  in my  house .. ….Thank God we found a place where I bought new ones…

Our first stop was in Place des Ferblantiers, it is a place with many artisans that create the typical Moroccan lanterns and …was really nice … You should have seen my face.. I was like a seven year old child that smiles with everything… I was so happy …My boyfriend couldn’t stop filming everything … he was too so excited.

We headed towards the Palais de la Bahi , what a stunning  decoration , we were surprised  by its beauty .  Its construction as we were told  lasted for seven years and the architect of the project arranged the various apartments around the typical inner courtyards..

You could admire the marble, mosaics and the  wood columns .Everything in  there was so nice..

We found a  quiet  place to enjoy our meal … I cannot  remember  the name of it but  there  were plenty of quiet  places , so you  won’t find it  hard  to  reach one.. The place was full of customers. The waiters were really polite; surprisingly the serving was really fast. The meal was really tasteful and I enjoyed it very much. After  the restaurant we walked and enjoyed watching the jugglers and the musicians .Some man  with a really  big snake, I think it was a python  that approached us  and  convinced  as to take a picture with it – my  boyfriend took  one , but  I didn’t , cause I find  it very annoying for the  python  to go from one person to another. It was the very first time of that year that I slept so peacefully – nothing mattered for me… I was so relived from everything …I was wishing never to leave….

The next day we booked an excursion with a local agency. We spend the afternoon shopping and visiting the souks .One of the most beautiful Islamic buildings in the city is the Medersa Ben Youssef (the Koranic school).

After dinner we went for a walk something that I never do back in my hometown. We were told  that  it will be dangerous, but thank  God  nothing  happened , but we didn’t find  ourselves  scared not  even  for a moment.

We dedicated the last day  to  buy  souvenirs and presents , that  last  day  I was  so  unhappy  .I wanted to stay more, but we couldn’t . The magical  place  and the  melancholy in my heart   left many beautiful feelings in my heart, but  someday  I will  visit  the place  again.
