Palavas-les-Flots | the beach of Montpellier

Today we are taking you to the very south of France, to one of the most beautiful cities of Provence and which boasts, with good reason, of having 300 days of sunlight a year: Montpellier, with a climate that is completely owed to the Mediterranean, which is one step far. More concretely, it is 11 kilometers away, being the beaches of La Grande Motte, Carnon or Palavas-Les-Flots the most popular for residents and tourists in the city; and near this village we will focus on Palavas-les-Flots, a small coastal town that could be totally considered as the beach of Montpellier.

But the beach is not the only charm of this small town. Its alleys, the crystal clear lagoons, its cable car and its famous tourist train can be the perfect addition to your visit. And pay special attention to their crooked lampposts, they are pretty peculiar.

Make sure to visit the fishing port in the afternoon to see the fishermen arrive and be even able to buy fresh fish. In addition to this, you can’t miss la Redoute de Ballestras. It is a small fort that has become, with the sea’s permission, the symbol of Palavas. Located in the center of a little pond, you can reach it through a beautiful walkway. Inside there is a museum dedicated to the brilliant artist Albert Dubout.
