The ancient city of Fenghuang

The Fenghuang is an ancient city located in the southwestern part of the Chinese province of Hunan, at the foot of a mountain along the riverbank Tuo Jiang. The city is very well preserved, without modern interventions, as if the time has passed by it. Its inhabitants speak ancient dialects, observe traditional customs and the arts, while there can be seen many architectural highlights of the dynasty of the Ming and Qing.

They maintain and protect over 200 ancient buildings, about 20 large or small roads, 10 ancient streets and ancient parts of walls, gates inputs ancient towers, ancient wells, arched bridges, temples, etc., most of which in the original situation. The Fenghuang is located in a remote mountainous area and because of its geographical position, it never suffered from wars or natural disasters.

From 1795 until 1937 none of the wars that erupted not affected. Neither during the Japanese invasion hit by bombings, says a report in Amusing Planet. With the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, Fenghuang rescued by large scale manufacturing operations occurring in other areas.

The locals embraced the rich and valuable heritage, the local government imposed strict rules on all construction activities in the region and thus maintained the authenticity and integrity of this ancient city.
