Located along the beautiful coast of the Red Sea, in Egypt, this city offers a perfect mix of relaxation, culture and fun. Looking for things to do in Hurghada? In this article we take you to discover the 5 experiences not to be missed in this splendid seaside destination. Lace up your “snorkeling shoes”, let’s go!

1. Snorkeling to discover the coral reef

Wonderful and beautiful underwater world with corals and tropical fish.

We are in the heart of the Red Sea, so the first thing you absolutely must do here in Hurghada is discover the wonderful coral reef. Fish, moray eels and coral paint the seabed with spectacular colors, and snorkeling is practically mandatory! You can do it both close to the shore, but it is by moving away from the coast with a boat tour, that you discover the real underwater treasures.

2. Take a semi-submarine trip

If you want to see the coral reef in complete tranquility, consider a semi-submarine excursion, also called an underwater cruise. With these tours you have the opportunity to do two things in one: both a boat ride and snorkeling in the best places!

But what exactly is a semi-submarine? Since a real submarine could cause a bit of anxiety – or at least, it is like that for us – here is the solution: a boat with large windows in the hull. You can then go down to the lower deck and be practically underwater, admiring everything that the Red Sea has to offer without getting wet.

3. Explore the desert by quad

If you’ve never done it before, it’s time to try the quad, ready to conquer the desert! There are several tours in Hurghada to join, you can easily book them all on GetJourGuide. Some of these also include dinner and evening shows in the Bedouin camps, which make the experience even more unforgettable.

Small note: the quad tours in these parts are not particularly adrenaline-filled, you proceed in single file and you don’t go very fast. It’s ideal for those who are a little scared, or for those who have no experience.

4. Relax on Eden Island, a dream island

Another activity that is definitely included in the things to do in Hurghada, is definitely some relaxing time on Eden Island.

Between moments of relaxation on the beach, some refreshing swims in the sea and a delicious buffet lunch, we must admit that the name “Eden Island” is not entirely random!

On this paradise island you will also find some instagrammable corners where you can take photos, such as a swing on the shore, or even one in the sea, and there is no shortage of rows of straw umbrellas that decorate the beach.

Where to stay in Hurghada – Τhe all-inclusive paradise

The Red Sea coast is famous for its all-inclusive resorts, so if you’re looking for where to stay in Hurghada don’t miss one. Xanadu Makadi Bay was particularly impressed. It’s huge: 500 thousand square meters of resort, with rooms, apartments, swimming pools, water slides, restaurants (7 of them), playgrounds, access to the beach and much more. In practice, it is a city overlooking the sea! There is not much to add, except that the terrace is connected to a shared pool with only three or four other rooms. Staying in here is so pleasant that it would have been almost worth the trip alone.
