If you are planning to visit Grenada, prepare your nostrils as you can get a whiff of nutmeg and cinnamon in the air. This is the reason why Grenada is known as the Spice Island. This is due to the fact that its land is very fertile for producing spice. The landscape of the country will also tempt visitors to its waterfalls, forests and beaches. Despite the fact that a hurricane destroyed the majority of the islands that composed Grenada, the nutmeg crops are back in full bloom. There are also quite a number of flowers. Its capital which is St. George is the prettiest in the region. If you love the water then immerse yourself in the blue waters and sands of Grand Anse. This is a long stretch of beaches wherein you can enjoy water sports. The place also has several stalls for food and shops.
If you want tranquility then you can visit La Sagesse that has private coves. There is also a magazine beach where you will be rewarded with a great sight while snorkeling. You can find great restaurants within the area. Levera is another place to go as the Atlantic sea meets the Carribean. The place is often deserted. Exploring the island is rather easy if you rent a car. This is the best way where you can discover plantation and distilleries and you can see how the products are made. You can also find estates that would show you how to make chocolates. While in St. George’s, don’t forget to visit the Market Square where you can purchase spices. Your trip to the spice island will not be completed without tasting the country’s national dish called the oil down. This is made from meat and vegetables that are simmered with spice and coconut. There are other local specialties of the island like the stuffed crabs and roti. They are so mouth watering. You might also want to taste nutmeg ice cream. This is a perfect way to relax under the palm trees.
Aside from the spices, Grenada is known for its natural scenes. You can watch divers at the Annanndale Waterfalls which is in the island of St. George’s. You can take a walk at the rainforest that goes to high water falls. You can also take a dip at the sparkling waters. Take a hike at the Grand Etang National Park where you can have vistas in the coastline. Of course for those who love to party, the nightlife in the country is over the top and this is something that shouldn’t be missed. This is a perfect setting for those who want to relax and meet the locals. It is the best time to enjoy and be happy at Grenada.
