Amalfi Coast | Sea excursions to the Emerald Caves

While on holiday to the Amalfi Coast in Italy, you can participate in several sea excursions, such as those directed to the Emerald Caves (Grotta dello Smeraldo) in the bay of Conca dei Marini, 5 km from Amalfi. For those who have never been to Amalfi this is a chance to take a plane and visit it as soon as possible. You won’t regret it 🙂

Inside the caves you will see many rich columns, stalactites and stalagmites of curious forms. The cave is about 30 cm wide by 60 meters high and in some places, 24 meters high. Many say that when you are inside the caves it feels like you are inside a big palace, an oriental temple. So many stalactites and stalagmites in bizarre and magnificent shapes decorate the caves in such a way that makes you feel you are inside a fairytale with weird creatures and mermaids.

In its waters you can also admire an original underwater nativity scene on the bottom. The excursions by boat to the Grotta dello Smeraldo start at each location of the coast. From Amalfi, for example, the boat direct to the cave part from 9:30 to 16 pm. Also, it is possible to reach it by private boat or by land from the SS 163, panoramic road from Salerno to Positano, and then access by stairs or elevator. Have fun!
