Speaking of sand island, the largest are located in Australia, in the state of Queensland. The biggest of all is Fraser Island, curiously named for its lake, one of the most beautiful in the world, well known for its marine waters.
After that of Fraser, we have the North Stradbroke Island, also in Queensland, and then the Moreton Island, the third largest in the world sandy island. Almost entirely protected as a national park, being relatively close to Brisbane, 75 minutes by ferry, is one of the most popular destinations for a “run out of town” from Brisbane.
There are three small villages on the island; Bulwer, the most popular, Cowan Cowan, popular with fishermen and families with children, for its tranquility, Kooringal, sought after by lovers of oysters. and Tangalooma, the most exclusive.
The most popular activity on the island, is to turn with a 4 × 4 on the 40 kilometers of coastline, where you can shoot with these behemoths Australians. If you do not have permission to run under the 4 × 4, you can always hire a 4 × 4 cab course.
And then between June and November, we find ourselves all in Cape Moreton, to see the annual migration of whales.
