Traveling in January | Maldives and its 2000 panoramic islands

Here is the time to talk about the long-awaited trip of the Month. This month I present to you the trip with a capital T, the destination that everyone (myself included) are hoping to see sooner or later in life. The perfect destination for a honeymoon or for a winter break. The perfect place to find yourself and relax from everyday life.

The numbers in the Maldives

The Maldives is a collection of more than 2000 islands, each one unique, with impressive coral gardens, beautiful sea with infinite shades of turquoise, blue and green. There are nine-hour flights from Europe that serve to reach the 26 atolls that make up the country and seem necklaces from turquoise beads lying on a pile of 850 km and a width of 130. Each atoll is formed by a myriad of islands, islets and sandbanks ( all of them  different), each with its odd shape. We are talking about 1192 islands, most of them are deserted and only 202 are inhabited.

When to go?

The air and water temperatures are pleasant all year long. A change is the weather: The best season is from December to April, since the good weather is guaranteed. During the day downpours can occur but are nonetheless of very short duration. The rainy season is from May to September, even if the weather is rainy focused between June and August. In January the minimum temperature is about 23 °, while the maximum is 30.

How to get there?

The best solution is to buy an all-inclusive vacation package, although there are many airlines which fly-Europe- Maldives, as Eurofly, Qatar Airways and Emirates. In some packages “all inclusive” combinations are also proposed Maldives-Maldives-Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates.

The recommended Resort?

The Kuramathi Village Resort, Rasdhoo Atoll. The village is located in Rasdhoo, in the extreme north of Ari Atoll and about 70 km from Male , from which you can reach through Rasdhoo via a motorboat. The atoll is long and narrow and to follow it all on foot takes about thirty minutes. Kuramathi is consisted of  three resorts, and you can use the facilities (restaurant, spa ..) and you can move easily from one resort to another.

The resort has three different types of rooms: deluxe, superior and standard and four restaurants: Indian, Thai, laguna grill ehich is famous gor its grilled meat and it is overlooking the sea and also the Island barbeque. In a few words it is a meat restaurant surrounded by a dense vegetation island. Within the resort there is an elegant spa where you can enjoy of the most common treatments.

Getting around?

Getting around is not a problem in the Maldives, because usually you get on an atoll, where you can remain for the duration of the holiday. But you can also go hiking in the neighboring atolls and trips for the purpose of snorkeling or diving. For this, there are two alternatives: the seaplane which can book by the concierge of the resort, or the boat. You can use different types of boats, from the fast, typical local fishing boats to ships for larger groups. You cannot rent boats for private tours, even if you are equipped with a license. In some atolls you can, however, rent 16 or 18 feet catamarans and run around in the ocean stopping in neighboring atolls, if any. For this, however, you must learn to take the catamaran very well and gain the trust of those who rent it.

What to eat?

Kuramathi offers 5 restaurants, all of them are great. The best one (according to many tourists) is the Thai, the most scenic Laguna grill on the beach. In each resort the dining facilities vary depending on the management, so it’s also luck and you can be hosted by a more or less “gourmand”.

How or where to have fun?

Each village has organizations dedicated to animation and entertainment. Smaller atolls, it may be that the choice is limited, such as spaces. The Kuramathi, which houses three different structures connected to each other, can range from live music to disco traveling from the lobby of a resort to another every night.

Do not miss

The Maldives are not to be missed! With over a thousand islands and many different resorts, it is worth doing more than one visit. Every trip to the Maldives may be unique, according to the island. From my point of view, it is necessary to choose the resort on the type of holiday you are looking for: children are “intimated” and especially suited to couples.
