What to see in Podgorica, Montenegro

Podgorica is the official capital and the cultural center of Montenegro. Majority of the city was ruined during the World War II. For this reason you can find only modern structures and green areas around Podgorica. There are many culture events that are happening every year the city. You can also find theaters like the Crnogorsko and Dodest. In and around Podgorica are some historical and cultural edifices that you shouldn’t miss. The ruins of Nemanjica Grad and the old city of Doclea shouldn’t be missed. This city can be accessed by train or bus.

While in Podgorica, take the time to visit Medun which is an old settlement in the area. Travelers are charmed by its beauty and the richness of the culture. If you really want to see the old remains of the town then this is the place to go. This should be part of your itinerary if you want a sense of history. For those who love the antique age, Duklja is a great place to visit if you want to return to the past. There are areas where you can find the remains of the Roman civilization. There are numerous holy structures in Montenegro and one of them is the monastery Dajbabe.

This structure is a work of nature. It is found in the Hill Dajbabska Gora which is a very interesting site. You would also want to see Nemanja´s town or known as Nemanjin Grad.  Aside from the beauty of the monument, the place has a romantic atmosphere to it. You can relax and have a picnic in the area as well. Vranjina is a small fisherman town found on the Skadar Lake. Once a lodgment it is now a place where you can have the view of different islands and fortresses found in the lake. The place resembles Venice and is something that you don’t want to miss.
