Coqueirinho beach in Joao Pessoa, Brazil

The Coqueirinho beach (Praia de Coqueirinho) is located just outside of João Pessoa, the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraiba, in the north-east of the country. In short, we are very far from Rio de Janeiro; nearest to Fortaleza. The city is having a good increase in tourism thanks to a balanced mix of old Portuguese colonial era architecture, architectural innovation, tropical climate and large and beautiful beaches from which relatively little is known. This is one of the oldest cities in America as it was founded in 1585 and there are many building and theaters that look quite ancient. This city is well known for two facts. The first one is that it called the city where the sun rises first because it is located at the northernmost inhabited part of America. The second fact is that it owns the second place as the greenest city in the world because it has a lot of forested land (7 square kilometres). The first greenest city is Paris.

Among the beaches of João Pessoa, Praia de Coqueirinho is one of the most beautiful and famous. Subject to strong tidal currents (children love the low, which creates “natural pools”), the beach can be divided into two parts. The first, to the left, is the most attracted by families with children and tourists in search of bars and restaurants on the beach. On the right, the beach becomes more intimate and peaceful, but again do not miss the opportunity to find good fish dishes.
