The architectural heritage of the German city of Dresden is famous worldwide and its main monument is the famous Zwinger Palace, a building which even today is considered a masterpiece of Baroque architecture.
Other important buildings of this city in eastern Germany are the Frauenkirche church, a temple rebuilt from its ruins and one of the most important churches of the Protestant worship; and the Saxon State Opera Theatre.
The Opera was built in Renaissance style and baptized under the name Semperoper in reference to its constructor. This building is considered one of the most beautiful opera halls in the world.
Dresden offers incomparable tourist spots, like the park area of the Brühl Terrace, called the “Balcony of Europe” where you can enjoy spectacular views of the River Elbe and the Neustadt.
It is located on the right bank of the River and surrounded by some of the most representative buildings of historic Dresden, such as the Academy of Arts and the Albertinum, which houses one of the most important art museums of Europe: the Art Gallery of Old Masters.
Other notable museums are the Green Vault in the Residential Palace and the largest treasure chamber in the world, the Türkische Cammer, which holds the largest collection of Ottoman art.
