In the twenties, an American pilot named Jimmy Angel accompanied a gold digger to the very limits of the Venezuelan Amazon Forest. He found an extraordinary vein (gold reserve) a place that he attempted to visit later on. His search was useless, but instead he discovered something that was proved to be the largest waterfall in the world, and he gave his name to the waterfall: Angel Falls. The Indians revere the place as the home of their god Churruvena. Its height is estimated at 979 meters, although often cited 1002 or even 1054 meters. Anyway, this waterfall is well above in the charts from the second waterfall, the Tugela jump in South Africa, which is 948 meters. It is located in the State of Bolivar in the southeastern Venezuela, in Canaima National Park.
