That’s why we go back again in those parts, to be precise from the parts of Semur en Auxois, in Burgundy (just north of Dijon and very south of Paris).
We are going to Anchor in Semur because the first and the two are held here June medieval days to celebrate the long history of this small town, built in the largest of the four valleys dell’Auxois. Legend has it that Semur en Auxois was actually founded by Hercules, after his return from Spain. But the first historical documents to refer to Semur date back to 1606. Its appearance changes with the Hundred Years War, when the fortifications were reinforced and the towers increased.
Of this glorious and turbulent past remain the fortified gates, tall round towers, the collegiate church of Notre-Dame, the bridges of stone and half-timbered houses. The tour of the city – which can also be done with the little tourist train operating from March to November. You can extend the viewing to the agricultural museum, the small Italian theater, the museum and the municipal museum of science companies.
Going back to the medieval days, this year dedicated to tales and legends, the program provides a market themes, costume parades, simulated combat, shots of cannons and music concerts of the era.
