We have associated the beer with the Germans, including the Irish even for their Irish popular beer “Guiness”. Although, the oldest beer in Europe has been discovered in Spain, specifically in the province of Barcelona.
Dating back over 5,000 years, Europe’s oldest beer was produced in a small farming community in what is called today the Begues population in the province of Barcelona. In reaching this conclusion, archaeologists from the University of Barcelona studied the bottom sediments of a ceramic container with a capacity of fifty litres, found at the site of Can Sadurni. Although later the beer would have superseded by wine which was brought by the Greeks and Phoenicians.
Even though it far away the date on which it is believed that the Egyptians invented beer: which is more than 9,000 years ago.
