November in London

Walks beside the Thames river, shopping on Oxford Street and many museums. London is a city that is constantly evolving, giving visitors for different reasons to go again and again. Autumn is the ideal time for a getaway in the capital of England and the reasons are many. Cultural events, exhibitions in museums and festivals, create a festive mood, a month before Christmas and indeed many of them are completely free!

An initial exhibition that is worth visiting is the World Press Photo of the Year, which is hosted at the Royal Festival Hall from 8 to 26 of November. The event features 169 exceptional photographs, from a total of 100,000, which attracts more than 5,000 photographers from more than 100 countries.

Complementing nearly 800 years of tradition, the Lord Mayor ‘s Show began when King John awarded the City of London the right to choose its own mayor, if the last travels through the Thames at Westminster to declare his loyalty to the King. The ritual revived until this year’s November 9 and the celebration includes a path of three miles to the Royal Courts and a number of events like acrobatic turns and a large, colorful parade that will pass from central locations. The highlight of the event is the firework show that is held at 17.00 between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars.

Another photography exhibition, the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize, which will be held at National Portrait Gallery is to bring 60 new portraits, works of some of the most famous photographers in the world. Despite common form, images differ significantly, reflecting recognizable personalities, which appear alongside lesser known but gifted individuals, spontaneous shots. Conducted from 14 November to 9 February 2014.

An excellent exhibition whuch is present for the first time, the entire treasure Cheapside at the Museum of London. The impressive jewelry collection of 16th and 17th century, consists of about 500 pieces, found in the cellar Cheapside London about 100 years ago. Spectacular exhibits include Byzantine cameos, perfume bottles and a clock covered with emeralds. The exhibition will continue until April 27.

For yet another year the famous Hyde Park will be transformed into the ideal holiday getaway with the return of the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland this month. The park is transformed into a Christmas paradise with games of amusement parks, bazaars, ice rink and food stalls until early January. Last year’s magic ice kingdom will be in place this year, but twice the size. From 22 November to 5 January all ages will get in the best way in the spirit of Christmas.
