The picture shows the black beach of Waipio Valley in Hawaii, specifically the island of Hawaii (the Big Island), the largest island of the archipelago (it is the 50th U.S. state). The valley, which extends for about 10 km in length on the north side of the island is a place well known for its natural beauty. Waipio Valley is in fact embedded between high cliffs, which descend many streams with several beautiful waterfalls, including that of `Hi ilawe, the best known in the archipelago.
Those who choose the Big Island make it especially for its natural environment, made up of volcanoes (the island has a population of less than 5 including the Kilauea almost always on), beaches and a lush which is well-known for its orchids. Getting to the island is not difficult, since there are two international airports, the Kona International Airport (KOA) and Hilo International Airport (ITO), reachable from U.S. major cities, but more likely with flights from Honolulu.
