US city bucket list

The USA is chock full of fantastic destinations, but there are some cities more than others that dominate our popular culture. All the usual suspects are present and correct, but you may find a surprise in there as well. Once you’ve had a read, visit TrekAmerica to get your trip booked.

New York City

A cultural melting pot awaits you in the Big Apple, and it’s all the better for it. So many landmarks of this thriving metropolis are household names known around the world – Hyde Park, the Empire State Building, Broadway. This sparkling city represents the jewel in America’s crown when it comes to art, culture and dining. Must-do activities include seeing a play or musical on the Great White Way, taking photos of the chaotic Times Square and getting a birdseye view from Lady Liberty.

Chicago

Chicago is our kind of town, and certainly Frank Sinatra‘s kind of town. But we think you’ll like it too. if Chicago was a man, he’d walk with a swagger and have a cheeky smile – its picturesque skyline is one of the most beautiful sights you’ll see in the USA during your stay. You’ll find plenty of activities to keep you occupied. Downtown, there are big theatres, parks, beaches and museums to keep you amused. There are also exciting gems to be unearthed on the North Side and Southside as well, including soul food and the real Chicago blues.

Las Vegas

As the saying goes, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. This is a steamy, scintillating city that markets itself as the Bad Boy of America. Five-star hotels and top quality cuisine make this a very exciting place to be. Despite its reputation, quiet moments do exist in Sin City. Between playing the slot machines and the blackjack tables, find time to enjoy a relaxing spa afternoon or a round of golf and catch another side of the city’s character.

Santa Fe

State capital of New Mexico and adored for its scenic beauty, Santa Fe possesses oodles of charm and an extraordinary cultural diversity. There are plenty of fascinating museums to visit – especially on the aptly-named Museum Hill. The Palace of the Governors is one such venue that deserves a visit – it once served as the main capitol building and now houses an excellent historical museum and shop. Architecturally, Santa Fe is very different from many other cities in the USA, thanks to a heavy Spanish influence.
