What to see in Madrid, Spain

Classified as the 6th happiest city worldwide by Forbes magazine, Madrid is home to a number of attractions that will surely fill up the time of any traveler. Tourists would surely find a place to relax and enjoy while in the capital of Spain. The following are just some of the interesting destinations one could find in this amazing Spanish city.

Museums in Madrid

People are fond of pieces of natural history, works of arts and other collections and art galleries of the city. Museo del Prado is one stop you should never miss. As one of the hugest and most important buildings in Europe, various items and collections from the past can be viewed here, from paintings to sculptures and different prints. Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza is another destination to sight-see as it has a huge collection of arts. As an integral part of Reina Sofia and El Prado museums you can find paintings and drawings not just of Spanish decent but also of German, Flemish, English, and Italian. Aside from that, Museo Nacional  de Arte Contemporaneo Reina Sofia is another place where you can catch a sight of contemporary Spanish arts.

La Plaza Mayor and La Calle Mayor

If you wish to pay a visit to the city center, you may have to begin sight-seeing Plaza Mayor and Calle Mayor. You can perceive from here La casa dela Panaderia, which is among the pride of the whole city. You can also have an easy access to La Puerta del Sol where both tourists and locals welcome New Year looking at the huge clock that serves as accent to the place.

 El Retiro

Though there are a number of parks in Madrid, El Retiro is one of the easily reached parks as it found near the center and close to the prominent museums of the city. The lakes of the park are populated with a great number of ducks, creating a magnificent and relaxing view to anyone. On weekends, this park becomes a theatrical area, where you can find all sorts of street artists and performers.

This is also the reason why it is called Capital Europea de la Noche as you can find clubs and bars opened until the morning.
