The Dark Hedges is an extremely beautiful and most popular part in Northern Ireland for photographers. There is definitely something magical about it.
It is an avenue which has big beech trees lined up on its side making it feel like a narrow path towards a fairytale like world. It was created in the 18th century by a family of aristocrats who wanted to impress visitors pass through towards their Mansion.
Little did they know that three centuries later they would still be impressing the whole world with the magnificent sight they conceived.
The best time to visit is before and during sunset when the Avenue starts getting truly dark as its name implies but deep orange sunlight still slips between the thick branches of the trees. It’s truly amazing!
The Dark Hedge also gained a lot of attention when one of the scenes of the popular HBO series, Game of Thrones, took place there.
