Spend a lovely time on the beaches of southern Sicily

Sicily is one of the pearls of the Mediterranean, one of the most appreciated Italian islands both for its beautiful beaches and for its history and its traditions. It is definitely one the best places to spend some lovely time on the beach, with unspoiled corners and full of postcard views ideal for your next vacation by the sea. The southern part of the island is definitely the best area to leave you speechless.

Between the two provinces of Siracusa and Ragusa, there is a stretch of coastline made ​​up of crystal clear waters, endless and deserted stretches of sand flanked by lush Mediterranean vegetation, while at times you will be able to admire the flight of flocks of pink flamingos.

Among the havens of this stretch south of Sicily is the Oasis of Vendicari: dunes and rocky coves, marshes and ponds, turquoise blue water and more, that spread over 1300 acres. This oasis is definitely the ideal homeland of birdwatchers, since they can walk across wooden walkways between long stretches of swamp and admire flamingos, herring gulls, herons and egrets.

Along this stretch of coast even meet the small village of Marzamemi, where you can enjoy a romantic dinner on the square, overlooking the crystal clear sea. Take a walk along this small village made ​​up of fishermen’s cottages that surround the small port where you can also rent a boat. Moving north of the Oasis of Vendicari, you can admire the beach of the Marquisa di Cassibile, that looks like a real natural swimming pool made ​​of fine white sand and crystal clear waters.

For those who want to look for a bit of movement along the coastal road until you get to the oasis beach of Eloro where you can get unique surprises. The Eloro beach is in fact isolated and untouched, but more importantly, there hides the remains of a greek theater. Other beaches not to miss in this stretch of coast are definitely the Vendicari beach, or the Carratois beach near Capo Passero and the Calamosche beach.

To get away from the beach instead, you can go for a day at a beautiful baroque town of Noto, which is considered to be a genuine baroque capital. In fact, its historic center has been included as a World Heritage Site.
