This little paradise is a long island of only 11 km, but it offers some 60 dive sites, where you may come across with a 18-meter whale shark (do not worry, they are vegetarians). Another thing which is not bad is that here you will find the cheapest prices for diving in the Caribbean.
Most of the 2,500 residents live in the vicinity of the eastern harbor, a small village, where we still do not find the big international hotel chains, but only private pensions, small restaurants and shops for dipping.
The island is called Utilia of the Caribbean and it is located off the northern coast of Honduras, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world, which runs from Mexico to Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras.
The tourist island has been discovered only recently, as often happens, thanks to the backpackers, solo travelers, globetrotters, so the tourist facilities are often basic, but extremely cheap.
Finally, there are good security conditions as well, especially if comparing with those of the countries of Central America. The surest way to get here is by air from Miami to Roatan, but there some other more known island on the reef, from Roatan to Utila.
