The strangest hotels you can ever imagine

You want to live your own adventure but the standard hotel ruins that Indiana Jones feeling? Let us show you where to go for the adventure to start in the hotel itself!

– Montaña Mágica Lodge Hotel (Chile): Probably the rarity of this hotel resides in its “excessive” beauty (inside and out) and the fact of being so blended into the landscape, which stands as a “mountain-hotel” (waterfall included). All rooms are wood paneled and offer breathtaking views. It couldn’t be otherwise if we consider that this hotel is part of theHuilo Huilo biological reserve, located in Neltume, Rivers Region, Chile. The reserve’s a part of the impressive Chilean Patagonia, specifically of the Valdivian ecoregion, which has a unique landscape of lush temperate rainforests (one of seven left in the world). With this stunning background the hotel rises, among the most beautiful and exotic vegetation. The landscape it offers is worth visiting in winter (the mountain is covered with snow) and summer, when the vegetation undresses and a waterfall emerges from the top.

– Långholmen Hotel (Sweden): Have you ever dreamed of being in prison? Probably not. But playing at being a prisoner for a day can be a good story to add to your trip. Långholmen hotel, located on the island of the same name in central Stockholm, allows you to live this experience. An old jail closed in 1975, which hasn’t been demolished to build the hotel but only refurbished, is the perfect setting for the traveler who wants to feel what it’s like to be behind the bars. One thing’s clear, these are prisoners/luxury travelers as the hotel offers comfortable beds, bright rooms with all facilities and a restaurant with breakfast included that offers the best of Swedish culinary culture. In addition, they propose activities, like the undeniable visit to “From Crime to Chains” museum to plunge even more (if possible) in the “prison culture”. The cells can be single, double or you can even book to go with your family. Långholmen’s also a hostel so, the most daring, will share their “cell”. The island where the hotel is is famous for its green and natural environment, and also has beaches: the nearest is 100 meters away.

– Arlanda-Jumbo Stay Hotel (Sweden): For aviation lovers and as a demonstration for those who believe that sleep comfortably on a plane is impossible, Jumbo Stay offers unique accommodation within a model 747-200 jumbo jet built in 1996 and been operated by a Swedish airline. The plane-hotel’s located in Stockholm Arlanda Airport (42 miles from the center of the town). One “star” room is the one in the cockpit itself, which is asuite and has sweeping views of the airport runways. You can sleep in private rooms or in the hostel format. Also, if knowing the plane from top to bottom’s not enough, recently Jumbo Stay enabled an observation deck on the left wing of the plane. All of this with the benefits of an airplane which doesn’t undergo turbulence.
