Tips for Traveling to Lanzarote with Kids

The volcanic character of the Canary Islands takes on its full meaning in Lanzarote. An island dotted with volcanoes, with a whole range of unique landscapes that will delight the little ones of the house and will ensure the success of family holidays on the island of Lanzarote. Lanzarote holidays 2018 are supposed to be some of the best for families in the upcoming year.

This diversity of landscapes, together with the balanced development that the island has tried to integrate in them altering them minimally, was enough in 1993 to qualify as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

The island is just 75 kilometers long and 20 km wide which can lead us to the misconception that one or two days will suffice to travel and discover its secrets, but if you really want to know the island in depth and soak a little of its culture, you will need a last a week.

The friendly character of its people, the tranquility with which one lives on the island and breathes in its environment make it an ideal destination for the practice of slow travel. That way of traveling is slowly growing on us and that is much appreciated, especially when traveling with children.

When to travel to Lanzarote?

It’s always a good time to go to Lanzarote with children. In the Canary Islands people are fortunate enough to live in a kind of eternal spring and Lanzarote is not the exception. So any time and excuse is valid for a getaway to the island of Lanzarote. You can escape the cold winter and spend Christmas in bathing suits. If you want to enjoy with the children the magic of the island carnivals, the month of February will be a good time to live your family vacation on the island of Lanzarote.

What we really like when we travel is to be able to live close to the traditions and cultural festivals of the place we visit. The months from July to September are where the largest number of popular festivals on the island of Lanzarote is concentrated.

Transportation

Before clarifying how to move around the island we will make it clear that although it is true that Lanzarote can be reached by boat, the best way to get to Lanzarote is by plane. Except from the island of Fuerteventura, which takes a few minutes, the rest of connections by boat go from 6 to 9 hours. So once we have arrived by plane to Lanzarote airport, Guazimeta, the best option to move around the island is to rent a vehicle.

There is public transport but, if you want to take advantage of the time on the island, you must take into account that this does not reach most of the attractions of Lanzarote. So the rental car is definitely the best option, especially if you travel with children.

Where to stay in Lanzarote

The island of Lanzarote has been totally overturned with tourism for a few years now so the offer to stay in Lanzarote with children is extensive and suitable for all tastes and pockets.

There are a good number of hotels where families with children are well received and they have all the services and amenities so that the little ones of the house enjoy their vacation.

No doubt if we talk about Lanzarote with children, it is also worth mentioning the Dream Gran Castillo Resort with themed rooms, complete children’s entertainment program and its spectacular 5D cinema.
