After the bagels, one of the delicacies typical of the British capital is the classic bag of fish and chips (fried breaded fish accompanied by chips and if you really want to be traditional, even mushy peas, peas sauce) is a dish of poor prevalent cuisine in all English-speaking countries and is consumed by the locals especially on weekends, also because it is very light. But it is worth trying them at least once, it’s take-away or sit at the table. The food is usually served with salt and vinegar, not forgetting mayonnaise and tartar sauce, each finds its ideal mix well. According to the Telegraph, here are the local London places that prepare the best fish & chips:
• Olleys – wins awards every year on premiums. It is an institution in the city, where they serve the fish and chips in a just printed newspaper, on every Tuesday will prepare the fish & gluten-free chips!
• Poppies of Spitalfields – Relatively young, this restaurant has already gained a good reputation (it was a finalist in the Fish & Chips Award 2013!) It is decorated in a style of the 50s.
• Seafresh – Situated in Victoria on 80-81 Wilton Road; it is the reference number 1 in London for fresh fish.
• Fish Bone – Good food, various sauces (try the curry) and last but not least, the advantage of being one step away from Regent’s Park, there’s no better place to eat fish and chips.
• Sea Shell – It is a corner Restaurant in a typical house of red bricks, it has forty years of age and a good reputation, it seems even the best in town. Try it!
