It’s the largest Buddha statue in the world, just think that is 71 meters high and can be seen from dozens of miles away and a finger of its foot is bigger than one person’s. Since 1996 it has been protected by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
The Buddha statue is located in China on Lingyun Mountain in Sichuan Province and was built in the eighth century AD by local people for the protection against flooding from the river on which it overlooks. It is currently being restored after years of neglecting due to the poor “sympathy” of communism for this sort of thing.
Large crowd visiting this statue means great line, which runs along the steps leading visitors to admire it from below or from above. Inside the park, however, there are not bars or similar amenities, so it is good to come prepared.
