Penis museum (Iceland)

This peculiar museum is located in Husavik, Iceland. It intended to collect penises of all mammals that are found in the country. It was founded by the former teacher of history Sigurður Hjartarson in 1974. The institution gathers 245 pieces, none of them is from humans but probably one of their sponsors has pledged to donate “his piece”.

The parasite museum (Tokyo)

It is the only museum in the world that offers parasites. It is located in Tokyo, Japan, and its strange purpose is the exhibition of almost 300 species. Also, in this place are carried out some investigations and it has an area of education. It was founded by the doctor Satoru Kamegai in 1953. It has a bizarre acquit which reaches 45 000 parasites, besides the numerous documents and specialized books on the subject.

Mutter museum (Philadelphia)

This museum is located in Philadelphia, United States. It collects some medical objects very strange and some examples including the wax model of a woman with a human horn out of her front. The collection was originally donated by the doctor Thomas Dent Mütter in 1858. It had the purpose of carrying out some researches and teaching the students. However, in the meantime this place satisfies the curiosity of the visitors.

  1. The list above is downright interesting! I’ve read of the Counterfeit Museum in Bangkok. I think it’s something to visit as well. :)

  2. The toilet museum in Delhi is a wonderful place to visit thought it is a little out of way but worth the visit effort.
