During the Christmas season the city of Dublin offers a variety of events: from concerts in churches to ice skating on the ice, from shows at the theater initiatives in museums, from food festivals to Christmas markets. It all starts with the lighting ceremony of the Christmas lights, which will take place on the 18th of November with the lighting of the large Christmas tree on O’Connell Street and Henry Street.
For food lovers there is the Food & Wine Magazine Christmas Show, where the hall of the Royal Dublin Society in Dublin turns into a magical winter landscape dedicated to cooking, where you can collect all the elements to make a perfect lunch Christmas, learning all aspects of wine production, participate in tastings and learning how to uncork a bottle in style. The festival will run from the 30th of November to the 2nd of December in the presence of Santa Claus, who will deliver his gifts.
But if you’re tired of the usual traditional initiatives there is a tradition held in their Christmas Dec. 25 at the gates of Dublin, precisely at the Forty Foot in Sandycove Pool, where every year a lot of people gather for a swim in the frigid waters of the eccentric sea wearing Santa Claus’s hats.
