Holidays are a time to be with your friends, family and loved ones. And the beauty of cheap all-inclusive holidays is that your hotel will generally have plenty of amenities to keep you and your fellow travellers entertained.
The idea of leaving home without at least some of the entertainment gadgets we’ve come to rely on is, however, almost unthinkable. For those moments when your holiday just gets that little too claustrophobic, we’ve put together a list of our four essential entertainment gadgets that should be on your packing list.
1. Smartphone
A smartphone is an entertainment gadget that very few of us could now live without. Not only does it allow you to listen to music, watch films and play a whole host of games, it’s a necessity that you can sneak past your spouse, by highlighting its usefulness while abroad.
After all, is there a better way to confirm flight tickets, find out the location of your hotel, discover what’s on locally or translate a conversation while you’re on the move?
2. Headphone splitter
Unforeseen delays, long flights and tiresome bus journeys are always a little tedious. There’s nothing more frustrating, however, than sitting next to the person you’re travelling with while they happily listen to music or watch films, as you’re left to rue the fact that you forgot to bring a similar device with you to help pass the time.
This is where a headphone splitter comes in. If you’ve been intelligent enough to bring a set of headphones with you, but your travel companion didn’t, you can simply plug your headphones into a headphone splitter. The splitter enables multiple people to watch the same movie or listen to the same audio book simultaneously, without the need to awkwardly share headphones.
3. Tablet
When tablets first came onto the open market, there were questions about what we would use them for. Those early questions no longer persist and tablets are rapidly becoming the must have gadget for any technology aficionado, especially when it comes to deciding which gadget to take on holiday.
With laptops being large and cumbersome, the tablet is a halfway house between a laptop and a smartphone. Tablets allow you to watch movies, download apps, take pictures, make Skype calls and, with the addition of a portable keyboard, even do a spot of work if an emergency arises at the office.
4. Underwater camera or GoPro
The decision regarding whether to opt for an underwater camera or a GoPro, as the final gadget in your luggage, depends largely on the nature of your holiday.
If you’re planning on visiting the paradise of Sharm el Sheikh this year, for example, an underwater camera is an essential piece of equipment for your holiday, allowing you to capture breath-taking underwater landscapes and marine life.
If, however, you’re planning on more land-based activities, such as mountain climbing, downhill mountain biking or rock climbing, no travel suitcase should be without a GoPro. Strap it to your head or around the handle bars of your mountain bike and you can record all of your adrenaline-fuelled adventures with ease.
