From the 1st to the 10th of February 2013 in Sweden The 1000 Lights Festival is held, where the bright lights are lanterns carved into the ice by the villagers of Vuollerim, which belong to the Sami people who traditionally dig and ice rings to donate for good luck at the Jokkmokk Winter Market.
Let’s meet in Lapland then, in this small town that suddenly turns to magic and attracts every year many visitors also attracted by the taste of the local cuisine and snow activities like skiing pulled by a horse, which I talked about in an another article last year, for example, by a thousand lights have become two thousand, because whoever wants can take a course in ice carving and produce by themselves the lantern to add to the other (although you might want to create the candle holder or the fantastic characters inspired the nature of Lapland).
Traditionally the candles are lit on the first Tuesday of February and then stay on for the rest of the week on; the Facebook page of Vuollerim there are many images that explain how well the cold in these parts can be lived in a very creative way. For example the winner of the the Best snowflake (best snowflake in the cut paper).
