Fort Collins, Colorado boasts a nation low crash average and was deemed to be the safest driving city in America. In Fort Collins, the average driver will be involved in a vehicle accident once every 13.9 years. After Fort Collins, the following are the safest cities in which to drive:
- Boise, Idaho: In this city, drivers are 28 percent less likely to crash than the national average and are involved in an accident every 13.9 years on average.
- Sioux Falls, South Dakota: Drivers in Sioux Falls are typically involved in an accident every 12.8 years and are 21.8 percent less likely to be in a crash when compared with other cities across the nation.
- Brownsville, Texas: In this city, drivers are 21.1 percent less likely to crash and are only involved in an accident on average every 12.7 years.
- Madison, Wisconsin: Drivers in this city are involved in wrecks once every 12.5 year and are 20.3 percent less likely to have collision when compared to the national average.
Most dangerous cities for driving:
Drivers in Washington D.C. are involved in vehicular accidents on average every 4.8 years and are 109.3 percent more likely to becoming involved in a car accident than drivers in other cities, based on the national average. This makes the nation’s capital the most dangerous city in which to drive. After Washington, D.C., the following cities are considered the most dangerous for motorists:
- Baltimore, Maryland: Baltimore drivers are 86.1 percent more likely to become involved in a car accident than the national average. The average time drivers go between accidents in this city is 5.4 years.
- Providence, Rhode Island: Drivers in Providence are involved in car accidents on average every 5.4 years. This makes drivers in this city 85.5 percent more likely to end up in an accident than the national average.
- Hialeah, Florida: Drivers in Hialeah, Florida, are 78.7 percent more likely to have a car accident when compared to the national average with the typical time between accidents being only 5.6 years.
- Glendale, California: Drivers in Glendale are involved in a car accident on average every 5.7 years, meaning drivers in this city are 75.6 percent more likely to be involved in a car accident when compared to the national average.
Drivers should keep in mind the risks associated with driving in the dangerous driving cities and be extra careful when in them. However, they can relax a bit when driving in the cities listed as safest, knowing that the likelihood of them becoming involved in a wreck while in that city is minimal.
