Just two hours drive from Manhattan, the area offers a unique mix of metropolitan influences with rich agricultural tradition. Among sandy beaches and fishing villages, the wine region on Long Island is different than any other area in America. Family farms, small food production and small businesses winemakers share the wealth of the region, the sea and vines. Due to the similarity of the marine climate and the latitude of Bordeaux, the Long Island is the country of Merlot. In recent years the variety Cabernet Franc is promising offering aromatic wines.
