The octagonal Castel del Monte, a castle of the 13th century, inspiring architects even today and the historic town of Lecce offers the purest expression of Moorish and Italian Baroque. The Castel del Monte producing red wines from Uva di Troia, Bombino Nero and Aglianico. Interesting flavor offers the Bombino Bianco and sweet Moscato di Trani. In recent years a marked increase in the production of white wines like Greco, Fiano, Malvasia and Chardonnay.
