A warm winter | Five shelters with fireplace and all amenities

The worse the weather is, the better. This will give us even more pleasure to be staying in a nice winter retreat. Many of them are spread over Spain: cottages with design or rustic fireplaces, but where now we can enjoy a jacuzzi or spa treatment. These five following ones are good examples:

– Molino de los Gamusinos (Tolbaños, Ávila): It is a tiny hotel, only three rooms called Winter, Summer and Spring. Everything in this former mill of Voltoya river radiates the warmth of the handmade and the home-loving. In Molino de los Gamusinos you can enjoy an energetic breakfast and dinner. You will love to sit in front of the chimney in the lounge, watching the river flow under the glass floor.

– Hotel Consolación (Monroyo, Teruel): In its ultramodern cube-shaped rooms there is a fireplace that allows us to contemplate the beautiful landscape of Matarraña or enjoy in the tub excavated in the slate ground. The garage is an eclectic space ideal to have a drink; in the library we can read on the old leather Chester sofa in front of the fireplace.

– Antigua Casa de Pedro Chicote (Zafra de Záncara, Cuenca): All lofts and houses in this rural complex have a design chimney , either egg-shaped, central and glazed, rotating or with a plasma style. This is a good place, on the top of a crag and oriented to west, to watch the most beautiful sunsets of La Mancha.

– Masía Durbá (Castellnovo, Castellón): It is in the high Palancia, between the mountains of Espadán and Calderona. And here in winter it is cold. So we are grateful that it has seven fireplaces, almost as many as rooms. This eighteenth century farmhouse is full of Asian woods, colonial furniture and Indian and Javanese antiquities. For dinner, however, local food is of first importance.

– El Privilegio (Tramacastilla de Tena, Huesca): It rose on a fifteenth-century abbey, which has been decorated with modern taste and lots of fireplaces. Another place where not to feel the Pyrenean cold is in the spa with sauna, steam bath, toning pool and countercurrent swimming, tea area and heated loungers. It is a privileged place to come to ski or take snowshoe walks, by snowmobile or dogsled.
