Starting from the rich architectural heritage with the pretty canals and the glossy shops of the city, Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands has sights, attractions and events in order to satisfy visitors of all tastes. This is especially true for art lovers and collectors, who can choose between different art fairs, including the famous Art Festival of Amsterdam. The 27th edition of the festival, which took place in the spring of 2011, had counted more than 21,000 visitors, including Dutch and foreign art lovers who rushed to the capital in order to attend the most famous contemporary art fair in Europe, which most of all “was free”
“Amsterdam Art “is not only a festival devoted to art, but it combines exhibitions and events for the precious sale of the antiques. Although the event is sponsored by major collectors and vendors, the festival welcomes each year a large audience that is not limited to experts in the field. The 28th edition of the fair will be held at the RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam, from the 9th to the 13th of May in 2012. This year’s event hosted 133 art galleries where 44 of them were foreign ones. This is the largest trade show dedicated to the art of the Netherlands, organized not by chance in what is considered one of the main cultural centers of Europe: the magnificent city of Amsterdam. The tradition dates back to the Amsterdam Dutch masters of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Although the festival promotes mostly modern and contemporary art the event embodies the passion for the Dutch art.
After having admired the exhibition of the festival, why not continue with a visit to the famous museums of Amsterdam? The most popular ones are:
The Rembrandt’s House – which is dedicated to one of the most important artists of the nation. This museum is conveniently located in the historic center of Amsterdam, where the great artist has worked and lived most of his life.
The Stedelijk Museum – which is one of the best contemporary art exhibition in Amsterdam and contains unique sculptures.
The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam — your holiday is not complete without visiting this popular museum, which on Friday night becomes one of the most visited places by lovers of the nightlife. The museum is also the ideal place to mingle with the locals and make new friends….

Thank you for what you have. This is the best post I’ve read!
I stayed for a day in Amsterdam. I came there in the morning and left in the evening. We had canal cruise and that was great, really great
. And then we spend some time in the diamonds museum and later just walked through the old town to see what these red lights look like and stuff.
I can say that this diamonds museum was NOTHING interesting, really nothing
. But i guess there are other better, but in my opinion it’s better to spend this time in the city itself, not in museum, if, of course, you aren’t a real muesum-lover
