The children in Belgium are lucky, as they celebrate Christmas twice: once on the day of St. Nicholas in December the 6th and a second time during the traditional Christmas Day on the 25th of December. The children receive toys, chocolates and candies at Christmas from Pere Noel if they were good of course (the alternative is a bundle of sticks), they will get gifts again as usually, having already exhausted the practice toys they receive more practical gifts (those that are happy mothers …).
With Pere Noel, back again this year are the Christmas markets in Brussels, here are nicknamed, Plaisirs d’hiver (Winter Pleasures). The markets, which will take place from November 30 to January 6, they claim to collect the best of traditional Christmas produced in Europe (not for nothing is its capital Brussels), it sure is long, since it extends for over two kilometers . As usual there are stalls, chalets, attractions, activities of various kinds, in the name of arts and crafts and culinary delights from different European countries; very characteristic because of its international character.
Afterwards it is obligatory a stop to the Grand Place, the most beautiful square of the city, to enjoy the beautiful baroque facades of the buildings of corporations and the Town Hall dressed up with colorful lights and Christmas wreaths.
As well as the huge Christmas tree, near the traditional nativity scene, reminding us to be better. It’s Christmas! P.S. Special openings for Christmas shopping from Sunday the 16th and Sunday the 23th of December.
