Five summer holiday must haves

So, you’ve found an idyllic destination, checked the weather forecast and booked a great hotel right next to the beach. What else could you possibly need for the perfect late summer getaway.

Well, there are still a few ‘must haves’ that every holidaymaker needs, and here are the top five that you should never leave home without.

1. A good book

A good holiday should be a chance for you to unwind, relax and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. And if you like to get stuck into a good read, nothing says ‘me time’ more than a great book.

Why not use the opportunity to read one of those classics that you’ve never quite got round to, or perhaps a novel set in the destination you’ll be travelling to?

2. Insurance

Arranging your travel insurance may not be the most fun part of your holiday, but if you choose Thomas Cook travel insurance, the process will be quick, easy and hassle free.

Plus, if anything does go awry, having comprehensive travel insurance could save you a lot of money in the long run.

3. A destination guide

Even if you’re only interested in topping up your tan and soaking up a few late summer rays, knowing a little bit about your destination and the people that live there can really help to enhance your holiday experience.

4. A camera

Luckily these days most mobile phone cameras are good enough to capture a few snaps, so even if you forget your main camera you’ll still be able to take some good pictures.

However, if you can it’s still better to bring a separate camera and you’ll definitely be able to see the difference in quality of the finished shots.

5. A bit of time to yourself

Ok, so you may not be able to bring this one with you, but you can try to arrange a little bit of ‘me time’ before you head off.

If you’ve got young kids, try to choose a resort that offers childcare or a daily kids club. This will allow you to really relax, unwind and enjoy your time away.

Going on holiday is always going to be an exciting time, so make sure you start planning early in order to ensure you don’t forget any of the holiday essentials that will make your break truly great.
