The Amphitheatre of Arles in Provence, France

“Mom, but is here the Colosseum?”. It was a Saturday in August when we arrived in the amphitheater of Arles, and if he wouldn’t want it to be a bullfight in the programme we were not going to be able to join this 20,000-seat amphitheater, which by the way is very well preserved. Bullfights aside, the Anfiterato of Arles is open every day, by paying only 6 euro for entry.

It is an excellent destination and a wonderful place to spend a few nights in the ancient city of Arles. Celtic village colonized by the Greeks, Arles became Roman Julius Caesar in 46 BCwere the installed the VI legion of veterans. It is a city rich in history and major attractions, there are not many cities that can boast seven monuments protected by UNESCO in its center!

Of course, since we are in Provence, flowering lavender is one of those events to enjoy at least once in their career of travelers, in order to appreciate the colors, the smells and the exceptional atmosphere that pervades this part of southern France … continue.

Not too far from Arles is then the characteristic medieval village Les Baux, which I recommend, if only to participate in the show Carrières de Lumières. Finally, more technology-wise we can point out the Tracker Monument, an App useful for when you’re traveling without a guidebook, even if used in moderation ( not too fast to download on a smartphone).
