Visiting Vietnam

Vietnam is nothing like what our history books and news channels have been portraying or indicating for several years. Though the condition used to be tense, the country has managed to emerge out of its difficulties and blossom into a safe and fun-loving destination. The series of unexpected treats and delights will leave first-time travelers wondering. Regardless of whether one wants to go on a shopping spree, get lazy on the loungers dotted along the coastline, spend some secluded moments in the utterly luxurious resorts or get exhausted partying till dawn, Vietnam has it all covered with its arsenal of entertaining attractions.

The most precious jewel of Vietnam’s Crown and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay is one destination that is almost mandatory to visit when on a trip to Vietnam. Despite the grouches about overcrowding and eco-vandalism, Ha Long Bay manages to retain its luster, and continues to lure hundreds and thousands of tourists to Vietnam, every year. Apart from the fresh, delicious and inexpensive seafood, Ha Long Bay has several other options for entertainment. Ha Long Bay features thousands of limestone islets and karsts, and is home to over 14 endemic floral and 60 endemic fauna species. It is a perfect place for activities like kayaking, caving, scuba diving, mountain climbing, parasailing and cruising.

Hanoi

Known as the Old Quarter, Hanoi is the best and the most popular city in Vietnam, which draws maximum tourists, all the year round. The entertainer’s paradise is home to some of the classiest lounges that aren’t even a bit inappropriate, when compared to the ones in any other global metropolis. For travelers belonging to the creative and intellectual class of the society, the Tadioto Bar, or rather to say an art forum, is a perfect venue. While Hanoi rock city and CAMA ATK Bar serve as alternative options for partying like a celebrity, True Colors Street Food Tour and Old Quarter are ideal for spending daytime wisely.

Ho Chi Minh City

Formerly called Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is rapidly transforming into a traveler’s bliss. The limitless vivacity of the city is what attracts most tourists to the city. Chill Bar, Yoko, Lush and Ben Thanh Market are some of the major hotspots of the city. Located about 120 kms from the city is the splendid, Vung Tau Province, home to Vietnam’s most happening and sought after attraction, the MGM Grand Ho Tram Strip. A stirring nightclub, world-class multi-cuisine restaurants, 18-hole golf course, lavishing spa and the luxurious rooms, make it a perfect location for Vegas-style entertainment.

Other than the ones mentioned above, the beaches of Nha Trang, Danang and Mui ne, Central Highlands, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Hoi An, Mekong Delta, Phu Quoc and Con Dao Islands are some other attractive destinations. Vietnam is one of the most underestimated countries as far as tourism is concerned. The country has so much to offer to tourists that it becomes imperative to churn out a proper travel plan before visiting the country, so that one does not end up not visiting a destination due to logistic reasons or lack of time.
