A lot of airports situate themselves in the middle of nowhere, away from the hubbub of the city. But some are far closer to places of interest than you might realise. Before you head to an airport, figure out where the nearest town or city is and how you can pass time there. Even the smallest villages have fantastic scenery or a peaceful parochial pub that’ll happily welcome tourist cash. Kick back and relax is the take home message. Just don’t enjoy yourself too much – you could end up missing your flight!
