Italian finesse, elegance and style! Italy offers over time some of the most thoughtful accommodation suggestions for romantic getaways or family trips all year round! The new, small country hotels welcome you feeling refreshed, combining the aesthetics of traditional Italy with all modern amenities. From Sicily to Tuscany we present the most cozy accommodations for relaxing and for a carefree holiday.
1865 Residenza d’Epoca, Florence
The Florentine soprano Cinzia Borsotti and her Belgian husband, Michel Sabatino, decided to build a stylish guesthouse in Mattonaia Florence. They turned, therefore, the second floor of a 1865 mansion in a residence oasis. Guido Ciompi, who has edited the decor in all Gucci boutiques in Italy, undertook to decorate the five guest rooms, each of which pays tribute to writers who once lived in Florence.
The hostel does not have a restaurant but the famous Sant’Ambrogio market is just a few steps away, while the lounge offers a wide variety of drinks.
Relais Villa Vittoria, Laglio, Lake Como
Lake Como is famous for its large and luxury hotels and not for their boutique hostels. Challenging the conventional, the owner of the Relais Villa Vittoria, Daniela Tagliamonte, turned on the lake and built a villa in a welcoming haven. Eight of the thirteen, light filled rooms have lake views and all are elegantly decorated in shades of beige. On the ground floor there is a stylish lounge, but most visitors enjoy the outdoors, sunbathing by the infinity pool or sipping tea under the jasmine covered pergola.
Casa Cuseni, Sicily
The painter Robert Hawthorn Kitson, hailing from Yorkshire commissioned Frank Brangwyn, a protege famous artist William Morris, to build this house on a side of Sicily and the project was completed in 1907. During WWII, locals evacuated from the area art collections of Kitson, which included ancient Roman vases and Persian carpets.
Today, the villa belongs to Cuseni Mimma Cundari, daughter of the former owner and husband, Francesco Spadaro, who turned the property into a museum and guesthouse. Three of the five stylish rooms feature a shared bathroom, but will reimburse you the access to the beautiful lush villa’s terrace, where guests can enjoy the beautiful views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea.
Monteverdi, Castiglioncello del Trinoro, Tuscany
It is not easy for someone, seeing a building in a crumbling village of the 12th century, to envision a transformation into a modern haven of Tuscany. But when the American lawyer Michael Cioffi discovered the village Castiglioncello del Trinoro, south of Montepulciano, thats exactly what he decided to do.
The award winning interior designer, Ilaria Miani, manages to seamlessly combine the rustic with the modern aesthetic, placing wooden beams on the ceiling of the room, adopting earthy colors for decorating and decorating their rooms with luxurious fabrics, wooden furniture and marble bathrooms. Each of the ten rooms and three villas of the Monteverdi has its own distinct character. At guests disposal is a cozy restaurant and a small art gallery with works by local artists.
