Two days in Vegas

The trip “USA 2013” ended with the big time “fun”, in the amazing city of Las Vegas. My Vegas holidays were incredible for more than one reason: because it was created from nothing by gangsters who carried there ill-gotten there and built the paradise of the game and the stakes, because, although it grew a lot since its founding, it remains as a mirage of tall buildings and bright in the desert, because it is also wasteful luxury, lights, dancing waters (I said you’re in the desert , no?) , scenery reminiscent of ancient Rome, Venice or Paris of the belle époque, because there is a Las Vegas day and another at night ( true ) and because prejudices which many ( including me ) have is a fun  interesting and vibrant worthwhile visit.

We arrived there from Bryce Canyon after a journey of about four hours on a road that sides the landscape and changed from a mountainous area to plain desert.

Like any self-respecting travel the United States includes a good portion of purchases before reaching the city, we even got into the Premium Outlet where we spent seven almost seven hours without realising it. The sunset told us it was time to go.

While spending most of our money in the outlet, we entered the city and then we met the neon lights (LED rather today) hotels, these hotels we see so often in the movies. We had booked at the Cosmopolitan, one of the new ones, which is right next to the Bellagio on the Strip, the main avenue .

I usually leave the information displayed in the end, more as a reference than as part of the story itself, but in the case of LV it is different precisely because this city is defined by its hotels which are actually the same, and the tours are from one hotel to another.

The Cosmopolitan is spectacular. No surprise you access the lobby where the walls and columns are covered by changing decor screens composing images. It is a luxury hotel but with different rooms and services categories, for commoners like us , check inn is easy for processing and no buttons to take the bags to the room or anything, you get a card , you indicate where the elevator and go.

We went (to the elevator was spectacular) and got to our room that looked like something out of a decorating magazine: all very modern, design, beds like clouds, an amazing bathroom and a fabulous view of the Bellagio fountains and the Strip. What else?

Services? None. The price did not include breakfast, in almost none of the hotels since you have pay it all apart (online). What I learned from LV is that you have to go to a big hotel because although they seem not so expensive for what they are, we paid U.S. $ 323 for two nights in a room for four, ie U.S. $ 40 per person per night (less than what I paid in the hostels of Chicago and San Francisco for a bed in a shared room), but it is for 3 or 4 people because it costs the same as for 2 . And the truth is that where you are going to stay in a hotel like this?. We booked it at the Secret Sinique Sniqueaway at an incredible price.

It was dark so we moved fast and we went to eat some food. They say that LV is the city of sin and gluttony is one of the deadly sins , right? Well, we succumbed and took a pass at the Buffet of Buffets which it is called that for the low price of U.S. $ 49 (plus tax , plus tax always ) offers 24 hours of free food in six of the best buffets in hotels in the city Ceasar Palace, Plante Hollywood, Flamingo , Rio , Harrah’s and Paris . We chose the Paris Le Village Buffet because it was closer. We tried to be discreet but available as they do take over ten islands with different foods from cheeses and meats , salads , pastas , meats, seafood , fruits , desserts , etc. . etc . etc . and all very rich. The site mimics a French village with its cobbled streets lit by lanterns which by me are super kitsch but you expect that from LV, no?
