If you are arranging a trip to the United States perhaps you have decided to include the famous American Falls on your list of places to visit eager to see the great wonder of which everybody talks about. Once there, after a long journey that began in the city of New York, we got there in front of the torrent of water, got soaked too and concluded something: they are not as impressive as expected.
Great but not that much
Having been to the Iguazu Falls before going to the Niagara Falls is a movement that works against the US because comparisons are unavoidable and the South American ones win by size and altitude. From this point of view they did not leave us speechless, but they are still a show worthy of admiration.
We consider that all waterfalls every traveler should see are between Canada and the United States, and there is where the Niagara Falls are located. Even though they are smaller than others, in this natural beauty the infrastructure that has been created around it stands out and includes several attractions for the visitor. Every night you can see them illuminated with colored lights and at the weekends fireworks are set off, so both day and night they get an audience.
How much it costs to see the Niagara Falls? Good news is that seeing these falls is free. You can access through the park that surrounds them at any time of the day and you can walk it freely, take pictures and contemplate them for hours with complete calm. The downside is that the best views are paid. The price to access to a great viewpoint is high and to see it updated so it does not surprise us you can do it on the official website of the park.
Directions to Niagara Falls
It is common that, for its proximity, whoever travels to New York decides to come and see Niagara Falls. The distance seems to not be that much until we remember that in America maps lie and we will have to optimize time taking advantage of the best transportation for it. Our first alternative was to get into a bus to take us directly to the border of Canada. We gave up. Only thinking that we would be 11 hours on a bus overnight without seeing almost nothing of the landscape discouraged us immediately. So the most adequate solution we reached was to get a cheap flight from New York to Buffalo that would take just less than 2 hours so we did not doubt about it.
